Meet Our Fawns
MABLE
Mable came to Wild Mother Nature on May 26, 2026, after we received a heartbreaking late-night call about a tiny fawn in desperate need of help. Without hesitation, Director Chelsey and Vice President Perry loaded up and made the hour-long drive just before midnight, hoping they could reach her in time.

When they finally arrived back at the rescue, we immediately began a thorough examination. What we found was far worse than we had imagined. Mable's little body was infested with thousands of maggots. They had invaded wounds hidden beneath her fur and were actively consuming living tissue. She was weak, exhausted, and in unimaginable pain. Every minute mattered.

(Entry made 6/21/26) As the days went on, we accumulated a total of TEN orphaned or injured fawns. When we opened this rescue earlier this year, we knew that we wanted fawns to be something we specialize in and are known for. So, we got to work, and after many weeks of planning, we dedicated the weekend of June 20th to building the enclosure that our precious fawns will call home until they are old enough to return to the wild.
We immediately got to work, carefully and painstakingly removing as many maggots as we could by hand. It was a long, delicate process that required patience and determination, but we refused to give up on her. She was then treated with medications to kill the remaining larvae, her wounds were cleaned and flushed, and she was started on antibiotics, pain medication, fluids, and around-the-clock supportive care.
Today, Mable's story is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, compassion, quick action, and a dedicated team can give wildlife a second chance. Every life is worth fighting for, and Mable proved just how resilient these incredible animals can be.
Darin Syverson with TNT Handyman & Construction donated his time and money to build our fawn enclosure. To say we are grateful is an understatement, and he has blessed us with such a beautiful home for our fawns.

The Fawn Enclosure
For a short while, it was just Mable. She had our full attention as she fought through her difficult recovery, growing stronger with each passing day. Then, one became five. When our friends at The Pipsqueakery reached out looking for placement for several orphaned fawns, we were honored to step in and help. Before long, Mable was joined by four more little ones, each with their own story of loss but each given the same promise: they would be safe, cared for, and given every opportunity to return to the wild where they belong. Watching Mable go from fighting for her own life to becoming part of a little family has been one of the greatest joys of this fawn season. Together, these five had formed a herd, finding comfort, confidence, and companionship in one another as they continued to grow and learn.
